OpenPublish Version 2.0 Released Today

Newest Version of Drupal Solution for Online Publishing Offers Better Custom Design Capabilities, User Experience, Support and Administration

ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwire - April 16, 2010) -  Phase2 Technology is pleased to announce the release of OpenPublish Version 2.0 today.

OpenPublish taps the power of Drupal, a social publishing platform, and supports everything from news coverage to Web 2.0 trends, semantic metadata tagging with Open Calais, social publishing and topic hubs.

Version 2.0 focuses on building a community of developers around the distribution with a new website, expanded online documentation and user guides; a theme layer overhaul and a more robust sub-theming architecture make it easier to create custom designs. In addition, improved administrative and editorial interfaces have been added. It is the 2nd major release of OpenPublish and follows 8 minor releases since March 2009 when the package was debuted by Phase2 Technology and Thomson Reuters. OpenPublish Version 2.0 and the future releases will allow editors to further rethink online news presentation, monetize content and reach a larger audience.

Additional updates to Version 2.0 include: a full transition to Features, a modular mechanism to share functionality between sites; an improved installation profile; multimedia-implementation; CKEditor implementation; integration with the Distro module; improved bulk content management interface; and streamlined installation process.

"A strong community of partners will make the Open Publish distribution an even stronger solution for online publishers large and small," said Jeff Walpole, Phase2 Technology CEO. "With this version, we have chosen to focus on product, design, and documentation improvements instead of significant new feature development."
