Opengear's Remote Management Appliances Integrated With SolarWinds Network Management System

Participation in SolarWinds Technology Partner Program Enables Interoperability Between Orion Network Performance Monitor and All Opengear Console Servers

SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - June 24, 2010) -  Opengear (www.opengear.com), a leading provider of next generation console server and KVM over IP solutions, today announced that Opengear will integrate its products with SolarWinds® Orion® Network Performance Monitor (NPM) through participation in the SolarWindsTechnology Partner program.

"With this integration, SolarWinds customers can use Opengear to monitor network devices, power equipment and environmental conditions at a remote site," said Bob Waldie, chairman and CEO of Opengear. "For network managers and system administrators, this extends visibility and enables them to take pre-emptive steps to make cost saving and revenue enhancing improvements."

Customers can leverage the integration of Opengear consoles and Orion NPM to support centralized management of their distributed computer, network and smart device infrastructure.

Opengear's console servers and Orion NPM communicate using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), management information bases (MIB), and traps (asynchronous alerts). This gives customers the capability to quickly respond to events at the edge, ensuring optimal reliability and performance.

"We provide encrypted authenticated access that meets the most demanding high security applications, so our customers can communicate securely with their remote equipment," said Waldie. "In addition, our ACM products give people secure out of band access through 3G cellular connections."

About Opengear ACM
The ACM5000 is one of Opengear's fastest growing product lines and is used across many companies and organizations, including retail chains, financial institutions and hospital systems. Organizations can centrally manage and monitor network devices and power status at all the remote branch outlets and centralize alarms to set up automatic shut-downs to be triggered in the event of battery back-up outages. ISPs and carriers are using the ACM5004-G for monitoring and out-of-band management of their remote POPs over the cellular network. Companies can also run software applications on the virtual servers at the head office that communicates securely to serial devices at the remote sites.

About SolarWinds Orion NPM
Orion NPM is SolarWinds' flagship product and delivers powerful, easy-to-use features designed to support the real-world network management challenges that IT teams face. Orion NPM makes it easy to quickly detect, diagnose, and resolve performance issues within the dynamic network environment. The solution delivers real-time views and dashboards that enable users to visually track network performance. As the foundation of the Orion family of products, users can add additional modules to their Orion NPM deployment, as needed, to build an IT management system that fits most companies' evolving needs -- from configuration, to application performance, to network traffic performance. Orion NPM is available via the SolarWinds website.
