Opportunity for High School Students to Support the Troops Through Art

2008 SemperComm Art Competition Opens

SPRINGFIELD, VA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2007) - High School students from across the nation are encouraged to showcase their creativity and talent in the SemperComm 2008 Art Competition. In keeping with the SemperComm mission of supporting military personnel stationed at some of the most remote bases around the world, the competition theme is entitled "For Them."

The competition is open to any high school student in the United States, and artwork can be submitted in any form of mixed media. All artwork entries must be matted and cannot be larger than 24 inches square. Two and three-dimensional entries will be accepted; however, three-dimensional entries must be accompanied by photographs indicating how the piece is to be properly viewed. Entry forms and additional rules are available on the SemperComm website at

Artwork that best captures the essence of the theme, "For Them," is most desirable. "I truly marveled at the technical proficiency and emotional content of last year's entries. We're hoping to push that level of personal connection between the artist and the military community even farther this year. I can't wait to see what develops," says Jessica Gladstone, SemperComm's art director.

Winners will be invited along with their parents or guardian(s) to attend the SemperComm Gala on April 10, 2008, in Arlington, VA, where they will receive their awards and their work will be on display.
