Orange County Banker Tapped to Serve on American Bankers Association Council

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 16, 2006 -- CommerceWest Bank (OTCBB: CWBK) -- Ivo A. Tjan, Chairman and CEO of CommerceWest Bank, has been appointed to serve on the American Bankers Association's Community Bankers Council.

Comprised of approximately 100 bankers from all 50 states, the Council meets twice a year to provide input to the Association on issues affecting the nation's community banks. Members are from financial institutions generally under $1 billion in assets.

The first meeting of the 2006-2007 council was held October 22-24 at the historic Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Council members discussed the public policy issues surrounding competition from large, non-traditional credit unions and the Farm Credit System. They also heard updates on the Congressional elections, the recently ended legislative session and how the newly passed regulatory relief bill will affect their banks.

Council members also met with Members of Congress and Regulatory Agencies to offer the banking industry's view on current banking issues.
