LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2009) - Shooting has commenced in Nottingham on Jim Loach's feature debut Oranges and Sunshine. Oranges and Sunshine recounts the extraordinary true tale of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham who uncovered an international scandal: the forced migration of children from across the United Kingdom to Australia.

Oranges and Sunshine starring Emily Watson, David Wenham and Hugo Weaving. Directed by Jim Loach. Screenplay by Rona Munro based on the book 'Empty Cradles' by Margaret Humphreys. A Sixteen Films co-production with See-Saw Films, Produced by Camilla Bray, Emile Sherman and Iain Canning and presented by Screen Australia and Little Gaddesden Productions. In association with Fulcrum Media Finance, EM Media, South Australian Film Corporation, Deluxe, Screen NSW and BBC Films.

The film tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham, who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals in recent times: the organised deportation of children in care from the United Kingdom to Australia. Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own well-being, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice.
