Orlando Utilities Commission Launches CFL Fundraiser

ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - April 24, 2008) - More than 36 Central Florida community groups are selling energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to earn money for their organizations while helping the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) to promote energy efficiency. Market Development Group is implementing the fundraiser on behalf of OUC.

Beginning with Earth Week this week and continuing through May, community groups will be taking orders for CFLs. Groups earn $2 for each bulb they sell and deliver. Group members who sell more than 50 bulbs will receive a special prize. All community-based, non-profit organizations within OUC's service area may register to sell the light bulbs.

OUC and ENERGY STAR® believe that installing CFLs in a home's most-used lighting fixtures is among the easiest and best ways to save money on monthly electricity bills. OUC hopes this fundraiser encourages customers to purchase a few bulbs from local community groups as a fundraiser, and then motivates customers to buy a full range of high-quality, energy efficient lighting products from local retailers.
