Orvana Announces Appointment of New Vice President, Mining

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 22, 2010) - Orvana Minerals Corp. (TSX:ORV) today announced the appointment of Donald P. Gray to the position of Vice President, Mining. Mr. Gray will report to Carlos Mirabal, President and Chief Executive Officer. Bringing to Orvana more than 29 years of operational and developmental mining experience, Mr. Gray also has extensive operations experience in the United States, Mexico, and South America, most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations - South America, for Coeur d'Alene Mines Corporation. Mr. Gray is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Degree in Mining Engineering and holds a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr. Mirabal said, "I am confident that Don's extensive knowledge and experience in underground and open-pit mines will contribute significantly to the successful completion of not only the re-opening of the El Valle Mine, the startup of the Don Mario Upper Mineralized Zone Project and the development of the Copperwood copper deposit, but to our growth plans as well."
