Ottawa CAs Raise Funds for Children's Charity

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 5, 2006) -

Attention: News/Business Reporters

Local golf event is one of many being held by CAs across Ontario

On June 5, Chartered Accountants and their colleagues from across the Ottawa region teed up at the Canadian Golf & Country Club to play a winning round for Ontario kids. Organizers expect to raise approximately $6,000 from the event, with the money going to the Snowsuit fund of Ottawa.

"The Snowsuit Fund is an Ottawa-based charity that raises funds for the purchase and distribution of snowsuits to needy children, 14 years and under, in our community," said John Wright, CA, of McLarty & Co. and one of the tournament's organizers. "Over the past five years, we've raised over $20,000 for the Snowsuit Fund."

The Ottawa golf day event is just one of several being held throughout the summer by local CA District Associations across the province in support of children's charities. Across the province, the CA Golf Day for Children's Charities has raised more than half a million dollars since its inception in 1996.

"As Chartered Accountants, we take a special interest in helping the communities in which we serve," said Brian Hunt, FCA, President and CEO of the Institute. "The CA Golf Day for Children's Charities in Ottawa is another opportunity for us to ensure children have the help they need to thrive and succeed."
