Ottawa Senators Announce 9 Semi-Finalists for Hockey Night in Barbados Contest

Fans can vote via text message or online, and to win tickets to upcoming home games

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 23, 2007) - The Ottawa Senators today announced the nine semi-finalists chosen for their Hockey Night in Barbados contest. The Sens Army Captain semi-finalists are Marc Adornato, Darcy Dunne, Beth Evans, Murray Guthrie, Ryan Guthrie, Warren Rawlings, Andrew Scott, Laura Simpson and Shawn Uhrich.

The winner will be crowned the Sens Army Captain and receive a special dream vacation for two to Barbados from March 7 to 11, 2007.

Senators fans submitted 60-second video clips in this first-ever contest, showcasing their team spirit around the theme of Hockey Night in Barbados. The nine semi-finalists were selected by a panel of judges featuring Senators owner Eugene Melnyk; Bert Inniss, founder of Bert's in Barbados, and Sandy Sharkey, co-host on 93.9 BOB FM's The Morning After.

Each selected eligible semi-finalist will be interviewed and videotaped by a representative of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club for the purpose of creating a video on why they should be crowned as Sens Army Captain. The nine fans are placed in groups of three and will have their videos featured at one of three upcoming home games:

Saturday, Jan. 27, vs. Boston Bruins: Murray Guthrie, Ryan Guthrie and Laura Simpson

Saturday, Feb. 3, vs. Toronto Maple Leafs: Marc Adornato, Darcy Dunne and Beth Evans

Thursday, Feb. 8, vs. Montreal Canadiens: Warren Rawlings, Andrew Scott and Shawn Uhrich

Fans can vote via text message at Scotiabank Place once the videos are shown in-game or online at www.ottawasenators.com for a period of 48 hours following each featured home game. Voters will also get the chance to win a pair of tickets to an upcoming Ottawa Senators home game. There will be no limit on the number of times a fan can vote.

The grand-prize winner will be crowned Sens Army Captain on Barbados Night at Scotiabank Place, which is slated for Wednesday, Feb. 28, when the Senators host last year's Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. The grand-prize winner will be determined by the sole discretion of the Senators panel of judges.

The Sens Army Captain will win a trip for two to Barbados from March 7 to 11, 2007, including airfare and hotel accommodation for four nights. On Thursday, March 8, the Sens Army Captain will join Melnyk and Inniss at Bert's to cheer on the Sens in the Battle of Ontario as they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
