Ottawa Senators Midget AAA Showcase Tournament at the Bell Sensplex Oct. 19-21

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 18, 2007) - The Bell Sensplex is pleased to announce it will play host to the third annual Ottawa Senators Midget AAA Showcase Tournament, presented by the new Ottawa Senators AAA Hockey Association, from Friday, Oct. 19, to Sunday, Oct. 21. Games will also be played at Scotiabank Place.

The tournament, sanctioned by the Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association (ODHMA), features 12 teams from Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Houston, Texas. The teams are: the Ottawa AAA Senators, the Intrepides de l'Outaouais, the Quinte Red Devils, the Houston Wild, the Mississauga Senators, the Brantford 99'ers, the Ottawa Jr. 67's, the Upper Canada Cyclones, the Cornwall Thunder from Prince Edward Island, the Kirkland Lake 87's, the Oakville Rangers and the Cambridge Hawks.

This tournament represents the first major event of the season for the Ottawa district at the midget AAA level. This season, the ODHMA will also host both the central regional midget AAA championship in Kanata and the national championship in nearby Arnprior, Ont.

Midget AAA is the highest level of minor hockey that exists in the Ottawa region, and this is the first year that the ODHMA has an official AAA league.

The showcase tournament begins play at the Bell Sensplex at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, when the Ottawa Jr. 67's will face Cornwall Thunder. The championship game will be presented at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. Games at Scotiabank Place will be played on Friday from 2 p.m. to 11p.m., with the host Ottawa Senators AAA squad facing the Houston Wild at 8 p.m.
