Ounce Labs Executive Featured Presenter at PCI Europe

Industry Expert to Discuss Application Security Requirements in PCI

WALTHAM, MA--(Marketwire - November 27, 2007) - Ounce Labs, the industry leader in software risk analysis, today announced that the Claudia Dent, Senior Vice President of Product Management, will be a featured speaker at PCI Europe: Investing in Compliance and Security. She will be presenting a session titled 'How PCI Has Changed the Face of Security' that will discuss the link between applications and data security, and will explore practical ways in which organizations can leverage software risk analysis across their entire organization. The event will be held on Thursday, December 6th at the Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel in Amsterdam.

PCI Data Security Standard (DSS), a major industry requirements document, is intended to improve security throughout the entire payment card transaction process and reduce the growing risks from fraud or data breaches by implementing effective information and data security policies.

PCI DSS is having a significant impact on the way businesses address transaction processing and the security of related data while securing data is increasingly fundamental to safeguarding reputation, building and retaining consumers' trust, and protecting profits and share price. Organizations that have failed to secure their data and experienced a data security breach have suffered from negative media coverage, decreased profits, removal of staff bonuses, and fines from government or regulatory agencies.

"The task of assessing and implementing measures to ensure compliance with the application security requirements in PCI DSS is not an easy one, and for those who have this responsibility within global organizations, the challenge can seem overwhelming," said Dent. "Our goal is to help organizations not only comply with PCI, but focus their security resources on the highest risk priorities and strengthen their overall application security processes."

Ounce Labs' flagship product, Ounce 5, is the first solution to support both the Privacy (Requirement 3) and Security (Requirement 6) sections of the PCI standard, which requires the protection of customer credit card information and the security assessment of software applications across retail, financial services and other industries.
