PANDUIT Verifies Live 10GBASE-T Traffic Over 100 Meters TX6™ 10Gig™ UTP Copper Cabling System

TINLEY PARK, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 16, 2006 -- The PANDUIT® TX6™ 10Gig™ UTP Copper Cabling System delivers verified performance, capable of transmitting true 10 Gigabit Ethernet traffic over 100 meters, under worst case conditions of a 4-connector six-around-one bundled configuration. Testing was completed in conjunction with Solarflare* Communications utilizing their 10Xpress* 10GBASE-T PHY and performed on bundled and unbundled cabling systems of various lengths, including worst case configurations defined in the TIA 568B.2-AD-10 draft standard.

"The recently published IEEE 802.3an Standard for 10GBASE-T requires all physical layer chips to reach 100 meters on Category 6A cabling. We connected seven 10GBASE-T transceivers to each end of an installed PANDUIT bundled cabling system and verified that the cabling passed traffic without errors over both long -- 100 meter, and short -- 25 meter 4 connector Category 6A channels," stated Ben Charny, Director of Validation at Solarflare Communications. "We have full confidence that the PANDUIT Category 6A cabling system will interface well with our 10GBASE-T transceivers. We are the first company to show 10GBASE-T products that reach 100 meters on Category 6A cabling and are currently sampling 10Xpress to customers."

BSRIA, a technical market research company in the UK, estimates that 9% of all structure cabling outlets sold globally in 2006 will be 10GBASE-T compliant, increasing to 22% by 2010, driving a need for Category 6A cabling(1). "Now that real-world transceivers have been demonstrated together with Category 6A cabling, there is no longer any speculation about the viability of 10 Gigabit Ethernet over copper," emphasized Steve Skiest, Business Development Manager at PANDUIT. "IT managers can be confident considering and implementing verified Category 6A cabling for new installations and build outs."

The TX6™ 10Gig™ Copper Cabling System includes jack modules, copper cable, patch cords, and patch panels that meet the demanding network requirements of today and tomorrow. Each component features innovative complementary design technologies that work together to suppress alien NEXT, while providing Class EA/Augmented Category 6 electrical performance beyond 500 MHz.
