PDA Announces 2008 Board of Directors and Officers

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwire - January 3, 2008) - The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) today announced its 2008 Board of Directors and Officers.

The newly elected Officers for 2008-2009 are: Chair, John Shabushnig, PhD, Pfizer Inc; Chair-Elect, Maik Jornitz, Sartorius Stedim Biotech; Secretary, Rebecca Devine, PhD, Regulatory Consultant; and Treasurer, Anders Vinther, PhD, Genentech, Inc. The 2006-2007 Chair, Vincent Anicetti, Genentech, Inc. assumes the office of Immediate Past Chair.

Laura Thoma, PharmD, University of Tennesee, was reelected for a second term as a Director. In addition there are five new Directors joining PDA's Board including: Harold Baseman, ValSource LLC; Véronique Davoust, PhD, Pfizer Inc; Lothar Hartmann, PhD, Hoffman-La Roche; Stefan Köhler, AstraZeneca; and Michael Sadowski, Baxter Healthcare Corporation.

"With the addition of these new members PDA's Board has significant representation from outside the US, particularly from Europe and Japan," said Robert Myers, PDA President. "The more global composition of the new Board reflects PDA's growth in these parts of the world, and our international focus on the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industry. Their years of experience and scientific expertise will strengthen PDA's leadership and help further PDA's vision to be the foremost global provider of science, technology and regulatory information and education."

Outgoing members include Immediate Past Chair, Nikki Mehringer, Eli Lilly and Company, Lisa Skeens, PhD, Baxter Healthcare Corporation, Tim Marten, DPhil, AstraZeneca, Eric Sheinin, PhD, Sheinin and Associates LLC, and Kathleen Greene, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
