PDTi SpectaReg Cuts Development Time for Spectrum Signal Processing's Latest Embedded Radio Module
SpectaReg Simplifies Collaboration Between Software, Verification, Hardware and Documentation Teams; Short Learning Curve and Easy Integration Provides Spectrum With Dramatically Shortened Time to Market
| Source: PDTi
VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwire - December 5, 2007) - PDTi™, the leading provider of chip
development tools for collaboratively managing register-map specifications
and auto-generating code and documentation, today announced that by
adopting PDTi SpectaReg™ for a recently completed project, Spectrum
Signal Processing by Vecima has successfully reduced their hardware and
software register development time.
"Spectrum used SpectaReg from PDTi for the design of our flexComm™
SDR-4800 embedded radio demonstration module that has over 100 addressable
FPGA registers," said Douglas Atterbury, VP of Engineering at Spectrum.
"SpectaReg-generated outputs are used by our embedded software, technical
publication, and FPGA design and verification teams. This tool helped
achieve cross-team synchronization and auto-generated thousands of lines of
code, saving valuable development time. SpectaReg's flexibility enables
rapid changes to be made to the register specification, changes that can
quickly be propagated to the rest of the development team."
SpectaReg simplifies all aspects of register map interfaces including logic
design, verification, software, and technical publications. SpectaReg
enables collaborative specification of registers using a rich and intuitive
user interface that provides single click generation of dependent code and
documentation views. Designs can be imported and exported in the IEEE
P1685 IP-XACT IP metadata standard from the SPIRIT Consortium. Generated
outputs include C, C++, SystemVerilog, Verilog, VHDL, DITA XML, HTML and
others. The targeted protocol can be configured for industry standard
on-chip interfaces including IBM CoreConnect OPB, ARM AMBA APB, Altera
Avalon, and more.
"SpectaReg makes it easy to manage your register-maps from an electronic
system level perspective. Significant value is derived in adopting
SpectaReg for logic design, documentation and the ever complex tasks of
verification and embedded software," said PDTi President Jeremy Ralph. "We
are excited to see customers like Spectrum achieving sizable ROI from their
adoption of SpectaReg."
