PRSA Boston Hosts Special Annual Meeting at Boston's Fairmont Copley Plaza on Tuesday, November 13

Boston.com Editor, David Beard, Is the Featured Guest Speaker; Past President, Kirk Hazlett, APR, Will Receive the Beacon Award for Lifetime Achievement in Public Relations

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - November 9, 2007) - The Boston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) will host its annual chapter meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, 138 St. James Avenue, Boston, MA.

The evening will begin with a buffet dinner and networking from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The program will then commence at 7:00 p.m. and feature guest speaker, David Beard, editor of Boston.com, one of the largest newspaper-based Websites in the country. The agenda also includes election of the chapter's officers for 2008 and presentation of the fourth annual PRSA Boston Beacon Award, an honor bestowed to an individual with a record of achievement in public relations. This year's recipient is Kirk Hazlett, APR, a past president of PRSA Boston.

Mr. Beard's talk will present his perspective on the ever-evolving news industry and discuss the rise of social media and emerging dominance of online news over print. He will also share anecdotes from his rich journalism experience, which has included stints as a deputy foreign editor, regional editor and assistant managing editor of The Boston Globe and as a foreign correspondent for the Associated Press in Latin America.
