PSEPC: Minister Day Condemns Vandalism at Montreal School

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 17, 2007) - The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, issued this statement following reports of vandalism, which took place at Ecole Les jeunes Musulmans canadiens in Montreal:

"Today, after visiting the Ecole Les Jeunes Musulmans Canadiens in Montreal and speaking with students, teachers and the head of the parents' association, I was saddened to see first-hand the impact of this senseless act.

On behalf of Canada's New Government and all Canadians, I condemn this incident.

The vandalism that took place goes beyond damaging school property. This appalling act is an affront to our country, our people and our values; in fact, everything our country stands for.

We will not tolerate any actions that threaten the safety of our communities and our children. There is no room in our society for such acts of vandalism.

I commend local authorities for efforts they are making to find those responsible for these actions."
