Panasonic Security Cameras Bring Peace of Mind to Family on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition"

BB-HCM735 Splash-Resistant Outdoor IP Cameras Enable High-Resolution Remote Home Monitoring

SECAUCUS, NJ--(Marketwire - January 26, 2010) - Panasonic's contribution of four splash-resistant outdoor IP-based network cameras to the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" series is providing newfound security and peace of mind to a family in Buffalo, NY.

The episode, which aired Sunday, January 24 on ABC stations, featured the Powell family, who had purchased their home in 2002 without being informed it was on the city's demolition list. After many years of renovations, it was still in need of improvements to make it safe and secure.

Panasonic provided four top-of-the-line, cutting edge BB-HCM735 splash-resistant outdoor network cameras for the Powell family's new home. Now the Powells can monitor their home anytime, anywhere on a cell phone or computer via a secure Internet site. These impressive cameras detect motion, sound, and shock and when any sensor is triggered, instantly send an email alert or save an image to the built-in memory or an optional SD card. They also feature an advanced chipset enabling fast video streaming so users can view crisp, high quality images.

The network cameras are a key part of a complete home automation system donated to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" by Control4, the leader in affordable IP-based home control and entertainment systems, and installed in the Powell family's new home by Buffalo-based integrator Sound & Theater. As with other Panasonic network cameras, the BB-HCM735 cameras can be used with or without home automation systems and have a built-in server so it is not necessary to keep a computer running for the camera to function.

"Panasonic is proud to provide our reliable, high quality cameras to help out Delores Powell and her kids. The Control4 set up and Panasonic cameras are sure to make a big difference to this deserving family," said Bill Taylor, President, Panasonic System Networks Company of America. "Outdoor security cameras help deter theft and vandalism, and families can rest easier knowing they can conveniently monitor what is happening around their home."

In addition to the BB-HCM735 outdoor camera, the product line includes three indoor models: the BB-HCM701, BB-HCM705 and BB-HCM715. Maximum resolution is SXVGA (1280 x 960) except for the HCM701, which is VGA (640 x 480).

Other key features include:

-- Power over Ethernet (PoE) - power is supplied through the Ethernet
cable, eliminating the need for a dedicated electrical line
-- Discreet design and easy to install
-- SDHC memory-card slot for up to 32-GB of portable storage
-- Will be compatible with Panasonic's i-Pro WJ-ND200 network video
    recording system
