Parmalat Canada Celebrates Innovation and Originality With Best New Product Awards Recognition

Best new product awards granted on innovation, originality and consumer value

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 5, 2010) - Parmalat Canada is celebrating its continued commitment to producing outstanding high-quality and original dairy products. In 2010 several of the company's yogourt and cheese products were recognized with the distinction of best new product. This substantiates Parmalat Canada's commitment to quality and innovation while contributing to the overall health and wellness of Canadians.

Parmalat Canada's Astro Zer0%™ Superfruit yogourt was recently crowned with three Best New Product distinctions: Best New Yogourt; Best in Food & Beverage and Best in Show at the 2010 Best New Product Awards presented by BrandSpark International. Highlighting Parmalat Canada's commitment to product originality and innovation, Astro Zer0%™ Superfruit yogourt was the first in-market to offer superfruit flavours in Canada. The yogurt boasts unique flavours not found in other fat free yogourts including Acai Raspberry, Mango Medley and Cherry Pomegranate. Superfruit is a fast-growing and popular yogourt segment in Canada with other yogourt manufacturers now following suit.

Astro BioBest Maximmunite™ Apricot Mango probiotic shot was also awarded Best New Beverage at the Best New Product Awards. The drinkable yogourt contains 25% less sugar than the leading probiotic drink and over 10 billion Immunofit™ cultures per serving that specifically target the digestive tract helping to help strengthen your body's natural defenses. The product's latest marketing campaign and new television commercials highlight the hardworking probiotics by using the song "Heigh ho, Heigh ho, it's off to work they go!" to reinforce the product benefit.

Celebrating the advancement and excellence of their innovative food products, Parmalat Canada's Black Diamond Funcheez snack cheese, Lactantia PurFiltre organic milk, Balderson™ Heritage Cheese 5 Year Holiday Box and Astro™ Original organic yogourt have all been named finalists at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards which take place on May 31st, 2010 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We are pleased to be recognized for our commitment to new products and our focus on helping Canadians make healthy choices," says Cheryl Smith, Executive Vice President, Consumer and Trade Marketing, Parmalat Canada.
