Parsons Selected by City of Port Angeles, Washington for $18.4 Million Bridges Replacement Project

PASADENA, CA--(Marketwire - November 1, 2007) - Parsons has received an $18.4 million construction contract from the City of Port Angeles, located in Washington State, for its 8th Street Bridges Replacement Project.

The 8th Street Bridges (Tumwater Creek Bridge and Valley Creek Bridge) were built more than 70 years ago and are two of the largest and longest wooden structure bridges remaining in Washington State. Parsons is responsible for removing the existing structures and replacing them with two new five-span prestressed concrete girder bridges -- the bridges will be 34 feet wide, curb-to-curb (12 foot lanes and 5 foot bike shoulders) with 6.5-foot-wide sidewalks on each side. Additional work will include excavation, embankment, asphalt paving, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water main relocation, traffic control, and other miscellaneous work.

"We are delighted to be working with the City of Port Angeles on this project," said Andy Albrecht, Parsons Group President. "The new 8th Street Bridges will mean a great deal for the area's future, and we will work to complete them safely within the specified time required."

The City of Port Angeles selected Parsons for its 8th Street Bridges Replacement Project based upon a low price bid. Teresa Pierce, City of Port Angeles Executive Communications Coordinator, stated, "The project is progressing well, and we appreciate Parsons' attention to detail and safety."

The project is slated for completion in late 2008. Parsons, a leader in the construction and design-build industries, is also working nearby on the Elwha River Bridge Replacement Project.
