Pentagon Federal Credit Union Proudly Celebrates Milestone 75th Anniversary

ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwire - March 31, 2010) -  Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PenFed) celebrated a milestone Anniversary this month, proudly tipping their hat to 75 years of member service.

PenFed was originally founded as the War Department Federal Credit Union in 1935 and changed its name to Pentagon Federal Credit Union in 1942. Initially chartered with $200 on March 25, 1935, the credit union has risen to become the third largest credit union in the United States with over $14 billion in assets today.

The credit union attributes much of its good fortune on one basic principal, and that is to be a low-cost provider offering exceptional value at best market rates. Fast approaching a membership of 1 million strong, PenFed has consistently rated at the highest level of safety and soundness.

"It is an honor to serve the credit union and I am proud of our achievements," noted Frank Pollack, President, PenFed. "However, our members are truly our most valuable asset. For it is our diverse and loyal membership base that allows us to be the vibrant credit union we are today, which is even greater cause for celebration."
