Peterborough - OFL Campaign Calls for Public Dollars

for Public Services - Not Profit Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - May 16, 2006) - "The McGuinty government is privatizing essential parts of our public services, including health care and education. Privatizing public services is not good for working families," says Terry Downey, Ontario Federation of Labour's executive vice-president. Downey will be in Peterborough on Wednesday, May 17 to talk to local media and municipal officials about the OFL's campaign to stop the drive for privatization currently going on in the province.

"It won't make health care or education more efficient or cheaper," Downey says. "Costs will go up, quality will go down and user fees will increase."

Terry Downey will have a lunch meeting with Henry Clark, Deputy Mayor in the Mayor's Boardroom 500 George Street North, Peterborough. Media welcome.
