Photon Dynamics Announces Partnership With Ultra Clean Technology

Partnership Improves Operational Efficiencies of Company

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - January 9, 2008) - Photon Dynamics, Inc. (NASDAQ: PHTN), a global supplier utilizing advanced machine vision technology to provide market leading Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) yield enhancement systems and high performance digital imaging systems for defense, surveillance, industrial inspection and medical imaging applications, announced a plan to create a partnership with Ultra Clean Technology (NASDAQ: UCTT). Under the terms of the partnership agreement, Ultra Clean will manufacture, integrate and test major process modules on Photon Dynamics' ArrayChecker™ test products of all generations as well as the entire ArrayChecker test products of earlier generations. The first shipment of Photon Dynamics' test products out of Ultra Clean's Shanghai facilities is expected in the summer of 2008. The ArrayChecker product line is Photon Dynamics' market leading LCD array test system; which enables improved panel defect detection.

"The partnership with Ultra Clean is a further step in the Company's strategy to transition fixed costs to variable costs to better manage the LCD capital equipment business throughout the cycle," explained Jeffrey Hawthorne, president and chief executive officer of Photon Dynamics. "It will allow us to lower our manufacturing and shipping costs, while reducing the time-to-market of our mission critical ArrayChecker test systems, and will place us in closer proximity to our customers in supporting production ramp schedules." Hawthorne concluded, "All together, the Ultra Clean partnership improves the operational efficiencies of Photon Dynamics, and we are pleased to find a proven strategic partner who is highly equipped with manufacturing expertise and dedicated customer support."
