Pierre R. Yanney Joins Stroock's Intellectual Property Practice in New York

Expands the Firm's Patent Litigation and Prosecution Capabilities

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 7, 2010) - Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, announced the addition of Pierre R. Yanney as a Partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in New York, effective immediately. His main areas of focus will be patent litigation and prosecution. Mr. Yanney brings with him two associates who specialize in patent law.

Mr. Yanney comes from the intellectual property firm Darby & Darby P.C., where he worked for 17 years and was most recently a member of the firm's Executive Committee and chair of its Recruiting Committee. His areas of expertise include telecommunications, electronics, medical instruments and semiconductor devices.

Mr. Yanney's clients have included Schindler Elevator, Thales Aerospace, GIGABYTE Technology, Mark IV Industries, MetLife, Goodrich Corporation, Estée Lauder, Kaz, Inc., C2 Communications, University of California - San Francisco and Klausner Technologies. Mr. Yanney was named as a New York Super Lawyer in 2007 and 2009.

Mr. Yanney holds a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his J.D. with honors from Rutgers University where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. Prior to law school, Mr. Yanney worked as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, where he specialized in circuit design for communication systems.
