Pinestone Resort Hosts Golf Fore the Cure Tournament

One of 200 events that are part of the Royal Canadian Golf Association and Canadian Cancer Society’s fundraising campaign

Attention: Health/Medical Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Media Editor, Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor HALIBURTON, ON - --(Marketwire - June 12, 2009) - Cynthia Romanyk, General Manager and Gail Kivela, Pro Shop Manager at Pinestone Resort & Conference Centre are pleased to announce that Pinestone Golf Course will be hosting a Golf Fore the Cure Tournament on Sunday, Aug 30th. This event is just one of 200 nationwide tournaments which will be held this year as part of the Royal Canadian Golf Association and Canadian Cancer Society's fundraising campaign. In the past 6 years, since this event was first introduced, over 22,000 women have been exposed to the game of golf and these women have raised over $1,700,000 for breast cancer research. This year's goal is to raise over $800,000. Money is raised through pledges from participants' friends & families.

Pinestone Golf Course hopes to have 144 ladies participate in their event. If every participant raises $100 in pledges we are talking about a donation of $14,400 to the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research. As Gail put it…."we all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease. A donation of $14,400+ is significant and can only help with all monies going towards breast cancer research in Canada as the development of better ways to detect, diagnose and treat the disease".

While the cause is, without question, a serious one, the plan for the day is to bring 144 ladies together for a day of fun and bonding and significant fund raising. You need not be a "golfer" to participate. There will be lots of events, surprises & prizes, including "best dressed team", "best decorated golf cart" and many more. Sign up on your own, bring a friend, bring a foursome or bring all of your girlfriends.

The day starts early with an 8:30 shotgun which means registration starting at 7:30 a.m. A boxed continental breakfast will be provided and, after 18 fun-filled holes of golf, everyone will enjoy a "special" luncheon prepared by Executive Chef Sean Tweten.
The entry fee is $100/golfer. For those interested in making a weekend out of it, Pinestone Resort & Conference Centre is offering a special room rate of $129.

To start the process, sign-up today and then start gathering your pledges. To gather pledges you can register online, print a pledge sheet from the website ( or pick one up at the Pinestone Golf Course Pro Shop. All pledges will be collected at registration and submitted on your behalf to the Canadian Cancer Society.
