Pioneering's Safe-T-element® Receives Regulatory Approval for Sale in Australasia

Safe-T-element® to be introduced to the New Zealand and Australian markets by A Grand Way Ltd.

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 31, 2007) - Pioneering Technology Inc. of Mississauga, Ontario (TSX VENTURE:PIO) ("Pioneering") announced today that its Safe-T-element® cooking system has been approved for use in Australasia. Safe-T-element® (STE) has obtained the Australian (AS) and New Zealand (NZS) standards (AS/NZS CISPR14, 2002. AS/NZS 60335.2.6: 2002 +A1 - A4. AS/NZS 60335.1:2002 +A1) necessary to ensure a safe product can be distributed to consumers in Australasia.

The issues surrounding stovetop fires in Australasia are similar to North America where only approximately one in ten stove top cooking fires are reported. New Zealand has 1.5 million homes and the New Zealand Fire Service in 2005 reported 1,072 kitchen fires due to unattended cooking, resulting in 5 deaths. Australia has approximately 6 million homes reporting 10,000 house fires resulting in 1,500 injuries and 70 fire related deaths.

Gary Hills, Director of A Grand Way Ltd in New Zealand said, "As a firefighter with a 27-year career, I witnessed many stove top fires and the damage that even a relatively small stove top fire can create. It was frustrating to see stove top fires and their three main causes - men, women and children. The STE removes the human element by preventing the opportunity for these fires from starting. The approval of the STE for use in Australasia is the end of what for us has been a journey. Approximately six years ago we began experimenting and investigating methods to reduce stove top fires. While conducting research for our project we discovered Pioneering Technology's STE and thought if we can't beat them, then let's join them."

Kevin Callahan, CEO of Pioneering Technology said, "Cooking related fires are a significant problem around the world. While we continue to focus on our core markets in North America, new market opportunities in both North America and throughout the world continue to present themselves as awareness for our proprietary solution to this universal problem continues to grow. Australasia represents a significant opportunity for the STE and we are grateful to A Grand Way for helping secure the approval for the introduction of the STE in this new region."

Rodger Calder, Chief Fire Officer, Palmerston North Fire District in New Zealand said, "We have concerns about stove top fires, especially amongst the elderly folk within our community. Anything that we can do to lessen the risk to our senior citizens is of value. I would like to congratulate you (A Grand Way) for having the initiative to look at a product that is designed to reduce the incidence of unattended cooking fires."

Hills concluded by saying, "We 'down under' also face the challenge of being more energy efficient and the reduction to green house emissions and savings to the consumer in energy costs that the STE delivers is the kind of benefit that the New Zealand Government is proactively looking for."
