Placer Gold Corp. Wind Energy Projects

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) -  Placer Gold Corp. (PINKSHEETS: PGCR), the "Company," is securing new renewable energy business opportunities.

ACCELERATED WIND TURBINE DESIGN: The Company's partners have completed initial CAD design work and scale model testing of a revolutionary accelerating venturi wind turbine design, which is smaller, and more robust.

The Accelerating Wind Turbine design has potential to produce twice the power at half the capital cost, of any competing turbine, making wind power the cheapest green energy in the world.

MULTI GIGAWATT WIND FARM PROPOSALS: The Company and Partners Joint Venture is making new high-level proposals to various State and Federal governments to capture the wind turbine manufacturing factory-jobs opportunity for their State and construct large-scale lowest-cost wind power developments to provide the lowest-cost green electricity to residents and businesses.

Invitations to meet with senior government and industry officials to discuss plans for full-scale turbine construction, state funding, jobs and potential wind turbine factory sites, are beginning to flow in.

ALASKA ALUMINUM SMELTER PROPOSAL: The Company's partners have also lodged high-level proposals for a new Green Aluminum Smelter joint project investigation in Alaska to take advantage of the large wind flows and Pacific Ocean access enjoyed by Alaska, to turn wind energy into wealth. The proposal is for an initial 1 million tons per year smelter, which would generate $2.5 billion in export earnings for Alaska.

The Company anticipates securing initial development funding in the next quarter.
