Plumbworld Announce Carbon Offset Scheme

Plumbworld the UK's largest online bathroom retailer has today announced it is offering a voluntary contribution to the www.PlumbWorld.co.uk Carbon Offset Scheme.

EVESHAM, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 11, 2009) - Plumbworld have announced today that they are taking their responsibilities to the environment seriously with the launch of a Carbon Offset Scheme that all of their customers can participate in.

Buy a bathroom suite or bathroom accessories and then plant a tree? Surely not?

What are they doing?

Plumbworld has set up a pioneering broad leaf tree planting scheme, based locally near our premises in the Vale of Evesham. Contributions from customers concerned about the environment will be used to purchase and plant traditional broadleaf woodland trees, such as Oak, Elm and Ash.

How do you contribute?

Purchase one of the huge range of bathroom products Plumbworld offers and when you go to the checkout, you'll see an option for a voluntary contribution to the Plumbworld Carbon offset Scheme. It's only 50p, and it's entirely up to you whether you participate or not. If you choose to take part, the 50p will be added to the amount you pay at the checkout and then passed on to the scheme.

Scott Morris, E-Commerce Manager of Plumbworld Said:

"Online marketing usually involves trying to sell goods, this is actually no exception! But for once we want to advertise the fact that if you do, and take part in the Carbon Offset Scheme we have devised, you will be giving something back to the environment. None of the results of the carbon offset scheme will in anyway affect our service to the customers which will remain outstanding, and deliveries will still be as fast and efficient as ever. So there really isn't a downside! Save the environment AND get the right product, at the right price, at the right time!"

James Hickman, Managing Director of Plumbworld Said:

"At Plumbworld, we've always taken our responsibilities to the environment seriously. When we deliver your parcel the delivery vehicles used by our carriers add carbon dioxide to the environment. Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global climate change. Planting trees is one of the easiest ways to offset this additional carbon dioxide generation because trees absorb carbon dioxide to produce oxygen. The amount of Carbon Dioxide a tree will offset depends on many factors, such as the type of tree, where it is planted and the amount of room it has to grow. On average, one broad leaf tree will absorb in the region of 1 tonne of carbon dioxide during its life-time!"

Plumbworld sell a huge range of products from full bathrooms suites, showers, to bathroom furniture and bathroom mirrors.

Plumbworld also have various hot deals around the site, including most recently free delivery on selected Shower Enclosures across the website.

Plumbworld is based in Evesham, Worcestershire and now employs 50 staff within their 2,000 sqm, purpose built warehouse and offices.
