Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $95 Million; $600,000 Power Play Prize Won!

POWERBALL--(Marketwire - January 13, 2008) - Even though the grand prize was not hit Saturday evening, Powerball had some big winners. One ticket in Pennsylvania (1) matched all 5 white ball numbers with the Power Play for an incredible $600,000 cash win! Five other lucky tickets sold in Arizona (2), Louisiana (2), and North Carolina (1) won $200,000 each by matching all 5 white ball numbers!

The jackpot for the Wednesday, January 16th drawing will be $95 million with the cash option at $47.5 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday evening were 23, 39, 43, 47, 53, and the Powerball was 14. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Twenty-seven tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Four additional tickets of that prize level had the Power Play and had the prize multiplied by 3 for a $30,000 cash win! A total of 566,645 tickets across the nation won more than $5.4 million in prizes playing America's favorite game.

A total of 105,688 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prize by 3 Saturday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for $1. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2-5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased $23,946,636 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.

The lotteries sold $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in fiscal year 2007. That translates into over $725 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
