VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2008) - POWERTECH URANIUM CORP. ("Powertech" or the "Company") (TSX:PWE)(FRANKFURT:P8A) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Malcolm F. Clay to its board of directors. Mr. Clay has also been appointed as Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Compensation Committee.

Mr. Clay, B.A., FCA., was a partner of KPMG Chartered Accountants for 27 years. As a public accountant, he served as lead audit or concurring partner for public companies listed on AMEX, NYSE, and the Canadian Stock Exchanges. Mr. Clay was Partner in Charge of the Vancouver Audit Practice of KPMG for ten years. In 1997, he was elected non-executive Chairman of KPMG Canada. Mr. Clay retired from his career at KPMG in 2002 and since this time he has served as a consultant and advisor to numerous private and public companies. Mr. Clay currently serves on the board of directors and as Chairman of the Audit Committee of three Canadian public companies.

Mr. Clay replaces Mr. James Carter on Powertech's board of directors. Mr. Carter has resigned from the board of Powertech due to other professional commitments. Powertech thanks Mr. Carter for his service on the board and wishes him the best with his future business endeveours.

Richard Clement, President and CEO, stated, "While we at Powertech fully understand Jim's commitments in his other businesses, we will sorely miss Jim's support and thoughtful guidance as an independent director. Fortunately one of his final acts of support to Powertech was to recommend Malcolm as an independent director for his replacement. Malcolm's strong and diverse background working as an auditor for numerous companies will serve Powertech well as we move into the next phase toward becoming a uranium production company in the US."
