Pratt & Whitney Canada employees in Quebec have raised more than $1 million for the Centraide of Greater Montreal campaign for a fifth consecutive year. P&WC is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.

"The people of Pratt & Whitney Canada have once again demonstrated their generosity and their commitment to the communities in which they live," said John Saabas, President of P&WC. "With the results of this year's Centraide campaign, they have continued a proud tradition of support to this outstanding organization."

Mr. Saabas presented a cheque for $1,071,907 to Michele Thibodeau-DeGuire, President and Executive Director of Centraide, during a ceremony held yesterday at P&WC facilities in Longueuil. The funds collected during the campaign will be used to support Centraide's efforts in the Greater Montreal area.

The amount raised this year came mainly from employee contributions made through payroll deductions. Each employee gave a record $311 on average, with a participation rate of more than 64 per cent.

P&WC's Centraide campaign included a number of fundraising activities, including a traditional spaghetti lunch and variety show to name a few. "The campaign was once again a big hit with employees and retirees, who are eager to give back to the community both through financial support and by volunteering their time," said Joanne Lamarre, Director of P&WC's 2009 Centraide campaign. "I'd like to personally thank all of them for making our campaign such a success this year."
