Pratt & Whitney Canada Gives Nearly $79,000 to Women's Shelters

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 27, 2007) - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC), a United Technologies (NYSE:UTX) company, yesterday presented a cheque for $78,684 to seven Montreal South Shore shelters for women and children who are victims of family violence. The funds are equivalent to what was raised for the shelters during P&WC's Les Femmeuses art exhibition and sale, which wrapped up last year after 20 successful years.

"We are keeping our commitment to continue supporting these shelters," said Nancy German, Vice President, Communications, P&WC. "We are pleased to give $11,240 to each of the shelters to help finance their exceptional work."

The shelters receiving funds are: Carrefour pour Elle in Longueuil; La Cle sur la Porte in St-Hyacinthe; La Maison Simonne Monet-Chartrand in Chambly; La Re-Source in Chateauguay; Maison Hina in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu; Maison La Source in Sorel-Tracy; and Pavillon Marguerite de Champlain in St-Hubert. The money will help these shelters provide lodging, 24/7 telephone service, individual or group meetings, and support at legal proceedings.

P&WC also continues to be active among artists in the visual arts through the Les Femmeuses/Pratt & Whitney Canada Prize created last year by the Montreal Arts Council. The Council recently launched the second edition of the prize, which awards $5,000 to an outstanding Montreal artist in the contemporary arts.
