Rum is the fastest growing spirit in the U.S., experiencing a 23 percent growth between 2005 and 2006. By law all Puerto Rican rum must be aged a minimum of one year in charred white oak casks, which produces a smoother tasting, finer rum. Light and amber rums are ideal for mixing in cocktails, while darker "añejo" rums can be sipped like a fine cognac. Based on a 2006 Adams Report, in 2005 more than 15 million cases, or 70% of all rum sold in the continental U.S. came from Puerto Rico. For more information on Rums of Puerto Rico please visit

Mr. Serrallés is a former Board Member of Banco Popular and is actively involved in the community in Puerto Rico, supporting local sports teams and non-for-profit and cultural organizations such as MDA, Rotary, Ser de Puerto Rico and the Ponce Art Museum.
