Prestigious Ontario Business Awards to be Handed Out by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2008) - A dozen Ontario companies have been chosen to receive the most prestigious business awards in the province. The Ontario Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) and the Ontario Global Traders Awards (OGTA) will be presented by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce next month in Toronto.

"This year more than ever we must give credit to the firms that are investing in innovation, improving productivity and creating jobs in our communities," says Len Crispino, President and CEO of the OCC. "It always takes hard work and creativity to succeed in business, but in today's economic climate, resiliency and triumph are that much more worthy of recognition."

Awards will be presented in six categories: the American Express Business Excellence Small Business Award, the Desjardins Business Excellence Large Business Award, the Ontario Global Traders Award Innovation - Exports, the Ontario Global Traders Award - Market Expansion (Product or Service), the Corporate Governance Award, and the Innovation Technology Award. OGTA categories have gold, silver and bronze sub-category winners.

Twelve companies have been selected from a record number of nominees from across the province:

- Gold - Omega Lift Manufacturing, Bolton
- Silver - NAFTA Foods & Packaging, Brampton
- Bronze - JAY LOR® , Orton

- Ontario Global Traders Award Innovation:
- Gold - Alcohol Countermeasure Systems Corp., Toronto
- Silver - Mirus International Inc., Mississauga
- Bronze - GestureTek Inc, Toronto

- OBAA American Express Award for Small Business:
- Brent Packaging & Logistics Ltd., Mississauga
- Crownhill Packaging Ltd., Brampton

- Desjardins Business Excellence Large Business Award:
- S & S Bolton Group, Ottawa
- Trojan Technologies, London

- OBAA Innovation Technology Award: Navtech Inc., Waterloo
- OBAA Corporate Governance Award: Energy Savings Income Trust, Mississauga

Awards will be presented at a gala event which will to be attended by approximately 1,000 business and political leaders at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Tuesday, November 4th, hosted by Canadian icon Jann Arden.
