Primarion Demonstrates Industry Leadership Through Digital Power Management Seminars

Executives to Present at Digital Power Forum 2005, Intel Enterprise System Design Conference, and IBM Power and Cooling Technology Symposium

TORRANCE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 12, 2005 -- Primarion, a mixed signal semiconductor company that provides digital control of power and I/O solutions, announced today that members of its executive team will discuss future capabilities in digital power management and its value at the system level during several industry events in September. Chris Henningsen, vice president of sales, will hold a session at the second annual Digital Power Forum 2005, "The Next Steps for Digital Control," on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Sheraton Colonial Hotel & Golf Club Boston North in Wakefield, Mass. Deepak Savadatti, vice president of marketing, will explore digital power management at the Intel Enterprise System Design Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at the Grand Formosa Regent in Taipei. In addition, he will present on the future of digital control on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the IBM Power and Cooling Technology Symposium at the Hilton Raleigh-Durham Airport Hotel in Durham, N.C.

"The Next Steps for Digital Control"

This session will examine the advantages digital power offers over today's analog techniques. Currently, digital control-based solutions are shipping in several DC-DC converter applications, and the industry is taking steps to standardize digital interfaces. Digital control has the potential to provide improved performance, flexibility and reliability at lower cost than analog-based control; it can also be easily integrated with other functions such as power and thermal management. In their presentations, Henningsen and Savadatti will also explore the future of digital control technology.

"Digital Power Management"

Savadatti's presentation on this topic will provide an introduction to digital power management, digital controllers and power stage architecture. Digital power management architecture provides configuration, full loop control as well as monitoring and supervisory functions through a digital bus. This enables systems designers to deliver increased accuracy, real-time intelligence, simplified system design, and lower solution costs. Savadatti will address these elements of digital power management, as well as the design flexibility, enhanced manufacturability, and the improved system and enterprise reliability it offers.

"With the complex requirements of the next generation of processors, there is an increased demand for digital power management solutions that enable improved performance and reliability while decreasing overall system costs," Savadatti said. "Primarion is committed to helping system designers understand the evolution of digital power management, and the efficient and cost-effective implementation of it into applications. Through educational sessions at leading industry events, we will explore the industry directions influencing the latest design considerations."
