Procera Networks Launches High-End Statistics Server
PacketLogic PL1400 Offers a Scalable Data Repository at Par With Carrier-Grade PL10000 for Analyzing Network Performance and Traffic Trends
LOS GATOS, CA--(Marketwire - December 2, 2008) - Procera® Networks Inc. (AMEX: PKT), a
developer of Evolved DPI solutions providing the most accurate traffic
awareness, control and protection for complex networks, today announced
PacketLogic PL1400, an advanced statistics repository designed to scale
with the high-end carrier-grade PacketLogic PL10000 series. Featuring a
scalable design with up to 14.4 terabytes of data aggregation on a Sun
Microsystems platform, the PL1400 allows operators to manage, store and
analyze the large volume of highly granular network traffic data generated
by one or more PL10000 platforms. PL1400 with PacketLogic's Statistics
module empowers the operator with the competitive advantage to discover
network traffic trends, track improper user behavior, detect traffic
congestion and simplify the creation and billing of service offerings
targeted to consumers based upon actual data usage.
"Operators are not able to make proper business decisions if they don't
have a complete and accurate picture of what traffic is going through the
network," said Jon Lindén, Procera's vice president of global marketing.
"Statistical analysis is paramount to any operator's ability to make
intelligent infrastructure, service offering and bandwidth allocation
decisions. By announcing the PL1400, we satisfy yet another Tier-1 operator
requirement with our PacketLogic line of DPI products."
Deployed out-of-band at the network core with either direct or remote
connection to a PacketLogic PL10000 platform, the PL1400 is capable of
managing one or multiple platforms, providing operators complete
scalability to meet increasing demand. It is available with as many as 4
fully loaded disk arrays, each array featuring 12 hard disk drives at 300
GB per drive, arranged to allow for redundant data storage and enhanced
resilience over time. In conjunction with the PL10000 and the latest
release of the PacketLogic firmware (version 12), the PL1400 employs
advanced administrative controls, giving operators the flexibility to
define the types of data they want to store and at what granularity. The
aggregation of data summaries to a centralized statistics repository like
the PL1400 provides the instant query response that PacketLogic customers
expect, even when analyzing multi-million subscriber networks. Using this
intelligence, operators can then define what consumers most need from their
service provider and tailor their offerings to meet that demand.
