Public Notice/Alexandra Bridge: Pre-Construction Work

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 26, 2010) - Public Works and Government Services Canada wishes to advise all motorists that pre-construction work on the Alexandra Bridge will result in:

1) the width reduction of both vehicle lanes at the Gatineau approach from:

  • 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 29, until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1.

2) the closure of the bridge to vehicular traffic in both directions from:

  • 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 30, until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 31, and
  • 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 1.

This work is necessary to prepare for the upcoming temporary closure of the southbound lane to Ottawa.

The boardwalk will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists at all times.

Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause. This work is a part of the planned rehabilitation of the Alexandra Bridge announced by the Government of Canada under its 2009 Economic Action Plan.

The schedule may change due to weather conditions.
