QTS (Quality Technology Services), one of the nation's largest and fastest-growing providers of data center facilities and managed services, today announced that it has appointed Simon Tusha as its Chief Technology Officer. In the newly created role, Tusha will be responsible for the strategic development of all QTS services and technology deployments within its three and a half million square feet of data centers. His prime focus at QTS will be on the design, development and construction of all data center projects. He is the third key executive to join QTS' ranks this year.
In his role at Google, Tusha identified an industry need for planning development and global data center strategy. He was the sole global negotiator for data center contracts and was a key developer of Google's data center location strategy. An industry veteran with more than 17 years of industry experience, Tusha managed and developed more than 150 data centers that span over 1.5 million square feet world-wide and offer customers more than 500 megawatts of critical power. At QTS, Tusha will provide the technology and design leadership that today's large enterprise customers demand.
"I'm excited to be joining such a growth-oriented, customer-focused organization like QTS," said Tusha. "The possibilities that lie ahead for QTS are enormous, and I'm energized and eager to be a part of the development that is in QTS' future."
Prior to working with Google, Tusha was co-founder of a MCE, a privately-held data center design, construction and management firm that provide operation design and management for the core data centers of JPMorgan Chase.
"We're excited to have Simon join our team. His leadership will play a major role in QTS's strategic growth plans as we continue into our next phase of development," said Mark Waddington, President of QTS. "As we build out our facilities and launch new projects like our recent Richmond acquisition, Simon will provide the strategic insight necessary to ensure that QTS is the leading provider in the data center market in the coming years."
During the past seven months, QTS raised $150 million of equity capital from General Atlantic, completed redevelopments in Miami, Fl; Santa Clara, CA; commenced an $80 million, 130,000 square foot expansion at its Atlanta, GA Metro facility, acquired a 1.3 million square foot data center complex in Richmond, VA, and added three additional key executive officers, including Tusha, which underscores the company's continued commitment to providing industry leadership and sustained growth in the data center, colocation and managed service markets.
Tusha will be located in QTS' Virginia facility. He studied Aerospace Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and is currently the executive sponsor of the RAACE foundation (www.RAACE.org), which is dedicated to awareness and prevention of child abuse everywhere.
