Qantas Adds New Non-Stop Australian Service between Los Angeles and Brisbane and Twice Daily Flights to Melbourne

LOS ANGELES--(CCNMatthews - Oct 13, 2005) -

Qantas announced today it would add a fifth non-stop service operating Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Sunday between Los Angeles and Brisbane beginning January 28, 2006.

"Last year, the introduction of non-stop flights between Los Angeles and Brisbane was very successful," said Howard Goldberg, Qantas Airways vice president of sales and marketing, The Americas. "This growth reflects the confidence that Qantas has in further expansion in travel between the United States and Queensland and Qantas has been quick to respond to the needs of our customers," he added.

All Los Angeles-Brisbane services will be operated by two-class Boeing 747 aircraft, which feature the airline's award-winning Skybed in Business Class and personal seat back video in-flight entertainment in all classes.

New Qantas schedules also include doubling the number of daily flights on the Los Angeles-Melbourne route to a total of 14 flights per week, with seven operating non-stop and seven via Auckland.

Qantas services between the United States and Australia will increase to a record 42 per week when the airline commences new non-stop services from San Francisco to Sydney beginning March 29, 2006.
