QinetiQ North America Names Business Acquisition Senior VP

Austin Yamada to Join Virginia-Based Mission Solutions Group

FAIRFAX, VA--(Marketwire - December 7, 2009) - QinetiQ North America is pleased to announce that Austin Yamada has been appointed Senior Vice President for Business Acquisition in the Intelligence, Security and Space Sector within the company's Mission Solutions Group.

Yamada joins QinetiQ North America from ManTech International Corporation, where he served as Vice President for National Security Strategy. An expert in counterterrorism, special operations, counterintelligence, antiterrorism and force protection, he moved to industry after a long career in the Intelligence Community during which he advanced to the Senior Executive Service and most recently served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Combating Terrorism from 2000 to 2002.

Yamada earned his bachelor of science from Montana State University, where he studied earth science. He subsequently received a master's degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. In 1991 he was a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. His honors include the Department of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Award and a Presidential Rank Award as a Meritorious Executive in the Senior Executive Service.
