QinetiQ North America Names New Head of Strategy for Its Technology Solutions Group

MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwire - February 15, 2010) -  QinetiQ North America (LSE: QQ) announced today that Dr. Mark Hewitt has been named Senior Vice President of Strategy for its Technology Solutions Group (TSG). He will lead group business strategy, identifying and positioning the group for new opportunities in government and commercial markets.

Dr. Hewitt previously served as Director of Defense and Special Programs at the Department of Energy's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, managing the laboratory's S&T portfolio supporting national defense and intelligence missions.

He served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Continuity and Crisis Management and as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict. Following his service in the Defense Department, he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University's Center for International Science and Technology Policy.

Dr. Hewitt was previously a consultant to the Rand Corporation, the Institute for Defense Analyses, and several government agencies. He led an intelligence analysis unit in the FBI's National Security Division, where he began his federal service as a Presidential Management Intern.

He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah, an M.S. in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Washington University.

Dr. Hewitt is a member of the Washington Research Evaluation network and was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service.
