Quantum Announces Streamlined Deduplication Solution for the Channel

New DXi7500 Express™ and QuikFit™ Program Offer Optimized Solution for SME Market

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - November 19, 2008) - Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM), the leading global specialist in backup, recovery and archive, today announced a new preconfigured Dxi™ appliance model optimized for small and medium enterprise environments, and a new configuration program designed to enable channel partners to size, order and install deduplication solutions even more effectively. Together, the DXi7500 Express disk backup system and QuikFit configuration program offer a streamlined path to deploying and managing deduplication in a wide range of distributed and midrange offerings.

The DXi7500 Express is a turnkey DXi7500 deduplication solution with all the hardware and software needed for midrange environments, including VTL and NAS interface licenses. Customers have the option to upgrade the system with replication and path-to-tape capabilities for systems designed to be used in multi-site environments and edge-to-core architectures. The bundled solution makes it more cost-effective for channel partners to specify, order, install, and integrate deduplication into a customer's backup and recovery ecosystem.

The QuikFit sizing process, available to Quantum channel partners worldwide, provides a fast, easy way to identify the right deduplication solution for a wide range of standard business environments. Based on Quantum's experience with its installed base, the QuikFit process eliminates the complexity of sizing and ordering deduplication systems, enabling channel partners to take a clearly defined approach to deduplication opportunities.

"With the DXi7500 Express™ and the QuikFit™ program we are making it possible for qualified storage resellers to efficiently sell and implement deduplication solutions," said George Bennett, senior vice president, Americas sales at Quantum. "We have expert resellers who are prepared to help customers leverage the advanced features of the DXi7500 to address the most challenging backup issues. Today's news follows enhancements to the channel that we announced in September and is another example of how Quantum is helping the channel share in our expanded market opportunities. We recognize the importance of offering programs to improve profitability for our partners."

"We see tremendous opportunity in the government market for deduplication appliances that are easy to implement," said Craig Abod, president, Carahsoft Technology Corporation. "Our customers have a continuing need for cost-effective backup and recovery solutions, and the DXi7500 Express allows us to efficiently provide them with the right solution."

The DXi7500 Express boosts backup and recovery performance while managing costs, using patented deduplication technology to decrease disk requirements by 90 percent or more. The DXi7500 Express is part of Quantum's innovative family of DXi-Series disk-based backup solutions, which also includes the DXi3500 appliance, that make it easy to deploy deduplication in midrange, distributed and data center environments, supported by common management tools and a global service and support team. Quantum's DXi-Series solutions are scalable in the field to meet the needs of enterprise environments while preserving their data with direct tape creation, policy-based deduplication, and enterprise-level capacity and performance.
