Quartier Vanier Businesses Working Together for a Safer Community

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 22, 2007) - Chief of Police Vernon White will be the guest speaker at the Quartier Vanier's Business Improvement Association's (BIA) inaugural breakfast meeting series on Tuesday October 23 at 7:45 am.

The Quartier Vanier's BIA mandate is to enhance the area that it serves through various beautification programs. "We have focused our attention for many years on simply marketing the area and making streetscape improvements, but now we realize the need to pay attention to what's happening on our streets not just how they look" says Suzanne Valiquet, Executive Director of the BIA. "In order to make our area safer, it is imperative that we all work closely with several partners, including Ottawa Police Services".

Many communities today face the same challenge. When asked, merchants and residents often respond by saying that they are unsure who to report crime to and what number to call. This first session will deal with creating a partnership with our local district police unit and the businesses in Vanier.

Police Staff and the Quartier Vanier Board Members will be on hand to answer questions.

The breakfast will take place at:
Racine, Robert & Gauthier Dignity Memorial Funeral Home
180 Montreal Road
7:45 - 8:45 am

Coffee and muffins will be served.
