Quercus Novel Wins the Best Irish Newcomer of the Year Award

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 28, 2008) - Quercus Publishing Plc, the Plus-quoted Publishing Company, is delighted to announce that Julia Kelly's novel, 'With My Lazy Eye', has won the Best Newcomer of the Year Award at the Irish Book Awards 2008 which was announced last night.

Julia Kelly's debut novel, With My Lazy Eye is a story of Lucy, a myopic, muddle-headed little girl and her relationships with her distant father. The book is a funny, poignant and highly original portrayal of one girl's coming of age.

The Irish Book Award 2008 is the first multi-category, industry-wide, awards project of its kind in the history of the Irish book sector. The Best Newcomer of the Year award was created to reward the most promising first-time author published in Ireland in any given year.

'With My Lazy Eye' will be published by Quercus on 5 June 2008.
