Quova Helps Ultimate Blackjack Tour Prevent Online Fraud and Abuse

Online Entertainment Site Uses IP Geolocation Data to Detect Fraudulent Behavior While Protecting Players

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - January 22, 2008) - Quova, Inc., the leading provider of Internet geolocation services, today announced the use of its IP Geolocation solutions by Ultimate Blackjack Tour, a leading gaming company, to prevent fraud and abuse on its popular website

Since the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 ("UIGEA"), many gaming enthusiasts who once played poker or blackjack including tournaments online cannot lawfully play for money online as such activities are considered unlawful gambling by the United States Justice Department. provides much of the fun and excitement of the live gaming experience but without being considered gambling, because it complies with UIGEA and state sweepstakes laws, insures that each player is located in the state where sweepstakes using tournament card games are allowed.

"Compliance is a critical, multi-step process for us. Quova provides the necessary first step for," said Brett Calapp, president, Ultimate Blackjack Tour. "Its IP geolocation data allows our company to be compliant on a state-by-state basis with a high degree of accuracy."

Quova was able to integrate and deploy its IP geolocation solution into the Ultimate Blackjack Tour's software application in just a matter of days. Today, when a visitor decides to download from the company's web site, built in logic rules immediately detect the geographic location of where the Web visitor is connecting to the Internet. That decision is returned to the application and the user is served the appropriate software that is customized with games and products that meet the laws in their country or state.

In looking at the IP address Quova's IP geolocation data not only identifies the geographic location of the Web visitor, but also returns a multiple of other important data criteria such as how they are connecting to the Internet (DSL or dial-up, and if they are accessing a proxy server). The network connection type and the use of a proxy server are important because they can mask a Web visitor's true location. Understanding the user location is also helpful for the UBT marketing department in their media planning and target marketing.

"As part of a rigorous online and off-line authentication process, Ultimate Blackjack Tour decided to use Quova's IP geolocation data services as the solution to pinpoint players' geographic location," said Gary Jackson, COO, Quova. "Ultimate Blackjack Tour maintains an enterprise-class network, and they needed a best of breed partner to match their robust infrastructure; Quova provides the accuracy they need."

Ultimate Blackjack Tour implemented Quova's IP geolocation data services in June 2007 prior to its official online launch. The integration process was easy and the impact of the data was immediate. The company can now verify that online Club Members are where they claim to be and automatically serve the appropriate software application. Since it began using Quova, the UBT has increased its customer base by over 35 percent.
