RCMP Commissioner and MADD to deliver sobering message on Thursday

National impaired driving campaign for safe roads through the holidays launches Thursday on Parliament Hill

Attention: News Editor, Photo Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor OTTAWA, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Nov. 14, 2007) - RCMP Commissioner William Elliott will headline the launch ceremony of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada)'s national Project Red Ribbon campaign this Thursday morning on Parliament Hill.

The MADD Canada red ribbon has become a familiar symbol of safe and sober driving throughout Canada - and this annual campaign is one of the most visible public awareness drives against impaired driving during the Christmas and New Year's holiday season.

Media are welcome to join with MADD Canada's national and local Ottawa representatives, police forces of the National Capital Region and special guests for the brief ceremony that will mark the official launch of the national campaign.

MEDIA NOTE: The ceremony will run approximately 20 minutes and will be immediately followed by a photo session with police and guests. The photo session is being arranged in front of the Centre Block, near the Eternal Flame.

Representatives from national and local Mothers Against Drunk Driving, police forces throughout the National Capital Region, as well as M.P.s are all expected to be in attendance and available for media interviews and photos.
