REMINDER/Media Advisory: The Office of the Commissioner Releases a Study on the Vitality of the Winnipeg Francophone Community

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2007) - The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages (OCOL) is releasing a study on the Winnipeg Francophone community. This study is part of a research project conducted in three Francophone communities and is entitled Vitality Indicators of Official Language Minority Communities 1 - Francophones in Urban Settings.

Ricky Richard, Senior Policy Analyst at OCOL will be presenting the results of the study on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Antoine-Gaborieau Room at the Centre culturel franco-manitobain, located at 340 Provencher Boulevard in St. Boniface. Members of the Winnipeg Francophone community are invited to participate in a roundtable discussion following the presentation.

The results of the study conducted in the Francophone communities of Halifax, Winnipeg and Sudbury will be presented under "What's New?" on the OCOL Web site at: www.officiallanguages.gc.ca, on:

October 16 - The Winnipeg Francophone Community

November 8 - The Sudbury Francophone Community
