REMINDER/OPERATIONMONTREAL.NET-Weekly Reminder: Dispose of your Chewing Gum in a Garbage Container

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - May 14, 2006) - Every action makes a difference when it comes to cleanliness, and this includes disposing of your chewing gum in a garbage container rather than throwing it on the ground.

Chewing gum sticks to surfaces and leaves dirty marks in public and private areas. Gum is difficult and costly to remove by cleaning crews.

Gum that is discarded just anywhere can stick to the soles of your shoes and leaves unsightly marks on buses, in cars, stores and homes.

"Cleanliness is a priority in Montreal. Although the city's cleanup campaign has had visible results, our city needs the cooperation of all residents to make the city even cleaner," said Marcel Tremblay, member of the executive committee responsible for services to the community and cleanliness.
