REMINDER: With Less Pomp and More Circumstance Students Graduate to Digital Production Careers in Television and Radio

TORRANCE, CA--(Marketwire - August 19, 2008) - For twenty-five graduating trainees in television and radio production, bright futures will be on location. But it wasn't easy. Most have had to overcome adversity and persevere against the odds.

CENTRO TV and Radio, a state-of-the-art digital production training center in Torrance, Calif., will culminate an intense thirty-week vocational program that affords students classroom instruction and hands-on training in the field. Field experience included live broadcasting assignments with ESPN on the X-Games in Los Angeles and the Moto X Championships in San Diego as well as Sunday Night Baseball in Anaheim.

Hailing from all areas of Los Angeles County and with diverse family backgrounds, CENTRO TV and Radio graduates have certainly met the challenge just to make it through the rigorous program. Some had to escape persecution in their native countries, others graduated from high school with few options outside of minimum wage. But soon they will move on to secure jobs with broadcasters including ESPN and other major networks.

"In today's ever-changing world of digital production, it takes more than the technical knowledge," said CENTRO's Recruiting Director Ofelia de la Torre. "Students need to understand the real, on-the-job challenges that they'll confront throughout their careers."

Through a dynamic partnership with major sports enterprises, CENTRO TV and Radio students receive more than the technical insights of digital production.

They learn corporate culture and how to work within large employers and production teams. ESPN and Fox Sports Network executives have provided personal, in-class presentations and field experience at major sporting events such as Dodger Games.
