REPEAT/Media Advisory/PIPSC Hosts Press Conference to Update on Status of Negotiations for Computer Systems Group

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - May 25, 2006) - Gaston Lampron, Vice-President of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada will update the media on the status of negotiations for the Computer Systems (CS) Group.

The CS Group represents 12,000 computer programmers, analysts and other informatics specialists in the federal government. Their collective agreement expired on December 21, 2004. Conciliation Board hearings will be heard on May 27 and 28. Seven days after the Board tables its report, if no agreement has been reached, CS members will be in a legal strike position.

In a show of solidarity and support for their bargaining team, members will rally in front of Treasury Board Secretariat at L'Esplanade Laurier, Friday, May 26 at noon and in other locations across Canada. In the National Capital Region, PIPSC represents 7,500 computer systems professionals.

The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada is a national union representing 50,000 professionals and scientists across Canada.
