RWE Innogy Plans Tidal Turbine Installation, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - June 20, 2010) -  Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- RWE Innogy (Essen, Germany), the renewables arm of German energy giant RWE AG (OTC:RWEOY) (Essen), is set to roll out its first commercial tidal project in Scottish waters and has revealed plans to create up to 100 megawatts (MW) of tidal plants around the British coast. Working with Voith Hydro (Heidenheim, Germany) through a joint venture company called Voith Hydro Ocean Current Technologies, RWE will begin installing a 1-MW marine tidal current turbine this year at the new European Marine Energy Centre in the Orkney Island waters.
